How Beauty Brands Are Unlocking the Key Charm Trend

From lip balm holders to mini hair kits, the accessory craze is entering the beauty space.

In recent months, bag charms have emerged as the ultimate fashion accessory. Once seen as playful and niche embellishments, these miniature tokens of personality are now on display on the bags of fashion it-girls like Kendall Jenner and Dua Lipa.  As this ’90s-inspired craze gains momentum, it’s also moving its way into the beauty space, with brands like Fenty and Benefit Cosmetics following suit.

So, what’s driving the key charm movement? It’s a classic mix of sentimentality, individuality, collectibility and the influence of social media. Benefit Cosmetics’ SVP of Marketing, Liason Vivianna Blanch, explains that makeup charms are the perfect product for a phone charm: “since [they're] so multi-purpose and easy to apply whenever and wherever you need a little color. It’s exactly the kind of product you want in your back pocket (or attached to your phone) for a quick touchup.”

Whether you’re a seasoned collector or just starting to explore this playful trend, there’s a charm for everyone ready to express their unique individuality. Are you ready to join the key charm revolution? We’ve rounded up some of our favorite beauty key charms below — perfect for elevating your bag game and having lip gloss (or even hairspray) ready whenever you need them.
