Honey Birdette Responds to Backlash After Featuring Nonbinary Model, Jake Dupree
Standing in solidarity with the LGBTQIA+ community.
Leading luxury lingerie brand Honey Birdette received backlash after featuring nonbinary model, Jake DuPree, on its Instagram. In less than 24 hours, the brand releases a statement of solidarity.
“Red curtain moment!,” Honey Birdette stated as it proudly shared a photoset with DuPree. The absolutely stunning imagery which featured the 3-piece Ruby set should have garnered full support. But disgruntled customers quickly flooded the comments with concerns over what a “real” woman is, displaying purely phobic behavior.
The comments, growing to be increasingly phobic, brought concern to the Honey Birdette team encouraging them to make a statement in solidarity with DuPree and nonbinary lingerie representation.

DuPree commented, “Thank you so much for posting these photos! @MaxBronner and I had so much fun collaborating on this. As a non-binary person, it really means a lot to see this support! 🥰”
Honey Birdette’s global director of product and marketing, Francesca Anderson adds: “Honey Birdette is an inclusive brand, and we support the LGBTQ+ community. Our longtime collaborator Jake Dupree looks absolutely stunning!”
