Celebrate Día de Muertos 2023 With Nike's Air Max 1 "Familia"
Complete with pan dulce-inspired textures and pink tones.
As more colorways of the Calm Slide surface and collaborative releases from NOCTA and OFF-WHITE dominate the release calendar, Nike is prepping for the forthcoming holiday season. First on its list is the annual Día de Muertos, which takes place at the beginning of November, and to celebrate, there’s a new Air Max 1 in town.
Dubbed “Familia,” the new colorway sees a playful mixture of bright pink, green, red and beige tones, paired with hits of yellow. Featuring bright pink Swooshes, the kicks come complete with pan dulce-inspired textures and bold red wiring with yellow stripes across the quarter panels.
Elsewhere, bright green wires adorn the heel overlays, paired with soft pink suede mudguards to represent candles, flowers, food, clothing and additional decorations that are typically placed on ofrendas to honor loved ones who have passed away. Rounding out the silhouette is “Familia” branding, which appears on the shoe’s right tongue and all over its insoles.
Take a closer look at the Air Max 1 “Familia” above, likely to release sometime in October or early November.
