In a new interview, Kudo discusses dressing the likes of Lady Gaga and Beyoncé and a recent foray into sexual wellness.

Celeb-approved latex couturier Atsuko Kudo releases her first-ever sexual wellness drop. In an interview with us, Kudo takes us behind the scenes of creating her new, luxury lubricant for dress and pleasure.

Launching October 18, Dressing for Pleasure is Kudo’s silicone-based lube inspired by her celeb-studded career. Named after the iconic magazine that documented the 70s fetish scene, Dressing for Pleasure just might be the next must-have for fetish lovers.

“As you may know we specialise in couture latex clothing design,” Kudo began to tell us. “As we are very specific about the accuracy and fit of the latex clothing we have always used lubricant to slip on and position the garments.” Little did they know, their niche would inspire another budding industry takeover.

Known for dressing the likes of Beyoncé and Rihanna, Kudo’s first-ever lube further’s her brand mission of femme empowerment and innovation. Those unfamiliar with latex may not know that those sensorial designs are tricky to squeeze into. Using lubricant helps the wearer slide into their kinky gear. Some find this pleasurable hence the double meaning of Dressing for Pleasure. “This is very close to our heart as dressing latex garments is for your pleasure. It’s a pleasure to dress you. It’s our pleasure if you can receive pleasure from it,” Kudo exclaimed.

“We’ve tried so many other products in the past decades and we use lube almost daily, so we gradually became a bit nerdy about it. We eventually decided we would produce our own lube which we felt would be perfect for our very special purposes.”

After years of nerding out over lube — both on Kudo’s seductive garments and for pleasure — she landed on Dressing for Pleasure. “We found that it works very well in the wider world of sexual wellness. It is a very smooth, non sticky and luxurious lubricant which can be used not just for dressing latex clothing but it also complements condoms and we can also say that it enhances personal pleasure exploration!”

Of course, we also had to ask Kudo about her favorite celebrity designs. She told us, “We have been so lucky to dress so many amazing people though probably most well known occasion is when we dressed Lady Gaga in the red Victorian style gown when she met the late Queen Elizabeth.” The moment was “transformative for Atsuko Kudo as a brand” and helped destigmatize latex as a fabric. “So I will be forever grateful for that moment.”

More recently, however, “It was also such a thrill to dress Christina Ricci for the Critics Choice Awards earlier this year.

As for what’s next, “It always has and always will be that I want to dress everyone who wants to feel beautiful, feminine and strong,” Kudo said. “We want to make you feel special – like a super woman and to make you and the world more shiny. So we would like to continue this mission with our latex clothing and also now with our Dressing for Pleasure lubricant.”
