Jimmy Choo and 'Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon' Return for Round 2
With the full collection available now.
Jimmy Choo and Sandra Choi are rekindling their partnership with Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon, presenting a second capsule collection inspired by Naoko Takeuchi’s Manga. Acting as an evolution of the first release, part two continues to champion the shared values of empowerment, individuality and female creativity.
Comprising five key footwear silhouettes, the collection draws from the characters of the guardians, spotlighting Sailor Chibi Moon, Sailor Uranus, Sailor Neptune, Sailor Pluto and Sailor Saturn. Once again taking color cues from each Sailor Guardan’s unique aesthetic, the collection sees illustrations appearing across bags, sneakers and small leather goods.
Adorned with love heart motifs on eyelets, studs and buckles, the collection’s pieces feature shaped crystal detailing, with each design hero-ing the concept of transformation and becoming “a different character.” Sailor Chibi Moon manifests as platform-soled knee-high boots crafted from baby pink Nappa leather, complete with a metal heart buckle. Elsewhere, Sailor Uranus is reimagined as stretch ankle sock boots with a lacquered heel, while Sailor Neptune arrives as a high-heeled velvet pump in emerald green. Completing the footwear offering is the Sailor Pluto Boot, Sailor Saturn Drop Heels and the Marlow Moccasin.
“I love what Sailor Moon represents — the power that comes from femininity, a strength found through unity, the belief that you can protect the good. I find those ideas inspiring and it continues to amaze me how Sailor Moon touches and inspires so many people around the world, the genuine love of the fans across generations,” Sandra Choi, Jimmy Choo’s creative director explains.
“It was exciting for me to further explore the superheroines of this deep and rich creative universe. I was interested in honoring a true reflection of the Manga, the characters – the escapism, and the idea of the Guardians as pop icons,” she continues.
Elsewhere, the collection draws from original Manga artworks created by Takeuchi, transforming the surfaces of the silhouettes into canvasses for artworks. Arriving across cardholders, Air Pod cases and scarves, the distinctive graphics also take over the Diamond Tote in two sizes, plus the Avenue Vanity Bag and Palma Maxi Sneaker.
In case that wasn’t enough, Sailor Moon superfans will also have the opportunity to collect 24 exclusive collector cards, including a design for each Sailor Guardian and two group designs, available with every purchase. Cards will be randomly placed amidst the packaging, with each purchase guaranteed to contain at least one pack, while bigger purchases will likely contain more.
“I was stunned by the ultimate cuteness from the 2023 Jimmy Choo collaboration product lineup, especially the pink crystal boots. It was so exciting for me to see the Isetan pop-up and the Hong Kong flagship store bringing the manga world to another glamorous level, and creating an amazing experience. I am very happy to be able to collaborate again this year. In particular, I love the shoes of the guardians of outer planets, and the multicolored products. I definitely want to have the bracelet and vanity bags,” adds Naoko Takeuchi.
The new Jimmy Choo x Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon collection will land in stores and online on October 9.
