Here's a First Look at Sandy Liang and Salomon's Anticipated Footwear Collaboration

Featuring fresh takes on the XT-6 Expanse and RX Moc 3.0.

Now that Spring is springing and the sun is shining, there couldn’t have been a more perfect time for Sandy Liang and Salomon to announce their upcoming collaboration. Following the New York-based designer’s Spring/Summer 2021 collection, for which the sportswear label offered its technical footwear for styling, the two entities then went on forming a special relationship.

Serving as Salomon’s first female-led partnership, the collection fuses timelessness with the modern zeitgeist and challenges the boundaries of style and performance. The duo has revealed a first look at their upcoming offerings, the Salomon RX Moc 3.0 and the XT-6 Expanse Plus, and they certainly do not disappoint.

Both the sneaker and moc silhouette prioritize a sporty edge and unique design elements that reimagine Liang’s nostalgic ethos and pastel colorways. Specifically, the classic XT-6 Expanse arrives in a “Cradle Pink/Jolly Green/Black” colorway and sees a ’90s anime flower print decal. It also incorporates Salomon’s signature stitched paneling and retro Sensifit™ construction.

Meanwhile, the easy-to-slide-on RX Moc 3.0 offers a sheer mesh upper that diversifies its wearability and enhances breathability. It is completed with an oversized EVA midsole for a soft ride and zero seams to limit friction. In the collection notes, Sandy Liang describes the release as “A celebration for the person who runs the trails in a dress.”

The designer continues: “There is a sportiness to Salomon that resonates with me. Growing up in the ’90s, I loved wearing sneakers. I incorporated this into my design process, tapping into nostalgic colorways and details like the anime-inspired flower decal seen throughout the capsule.”

Priced at $190 and $110 USD, respectively, the Salomon x Sandy Liang XT-6 Expanse and RX Moc 3.0 footwear styles are available for purchase at HBX and at Sandy Liang’s website and in-store locations.
