Courrèges’ New Fragrance Is Decidedly Modern
Hyper “Iris” is as androgynous as florals go.
Courrèges, the French fashion house known for its futuristic and playful designs, is adding a brand new fragrance to its popular Hyper collection. Say hello to Hyper “Iris,” a floral and woody perfume.
Almost 50 years to the day after Courrèges launched its very first perfume, Empreinte, artistic director Nicolas Di Felice dropped five new scents, kicking off the brand’s return to the fragrance world with a bang. Before long that grew to seven scents, each tapping into the heritage of Courrèges and founder André Courrèges himself in one way or another. Building on the success of the Colorama range, the luxury label followed it up with Hyper, a trio of bold and daring scents, housed in decidedly modern chrome bottles. “Hyper Iris” turns that trio – “Oud”, “Musc” and “Cuir”– into a quartet.
All Hyper fragrances are made with rare materials and “Iris” is no different. The androgynous eau de parfum opens up with fresh and powdery violet leaves, has a middle note of iris and draws out its main cord of cedar wood. True to it’s name (the ancient Greek word ‘hypér’ alludes to intensity and excess) “Iris” is a step above and is a very modern take on a floral fragrance.
All four Hyper fragrances from Courrèges retail for $308 USD and are available now on the brand’s website.
